Eind december 2006 bracht Nederlands Onbekendste Popster Meindert Talma met zijn band the Negroes een zeer bijzondere plaat uit. Op “Nu geloof ik wat er in de Bijbel staat” (Excelsior Recordings) stonden 9 door Meindert vertaalde folksongs uit de Anthology of American Folk music. Liedjes over god, moord en doodslag, bittere armoede, gezangen, psalmen en uitzinnige gospels die tussen 1927 en 1932 door Harry Smith werden opgenomen.
Speciaal voor het Geestdrift Festival speelt Talma nog eenmaal de bezwerende liedjes van dit legendarische album.

Meindert Talma klinkt alsof het oorspronkelijke vuur van de vertolkers door hem heenraast. Heftiger en met meer emotie heeft Meindert Talma niet gezongen in het inmiddels al tienjarig bestaan van zijn Negroes.
